Role:  Graduate Building Surveyor 

Location: Exeter

Start date: 6th September 2027 

Programme Duration: 2 to 3 years 

Salary: £29,000 

Contract Type: Permanent

What this job involves:   

Join our structured APC programme and work towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS). Over the course of the 2-3 year programme, you'll gain experience across professional and project work, receive dedicated APC support from experienced Chartered Surveyors, and build the competencies needed for successful chartership. 

 

What your day-to-day will look like:  

As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will be involved the full breadth of Building Surveying services, including: 

  • Working with and learning from a team of Chartered Building Surveyors and fantastic wider office network 

  • Attending client meetings alongside experienced surveyors from the outset 

  • Visiting properties to complete a wide range of inspections 

  • Completing desktop research about properties 

  • Preparing reports following inspections including technical due diligence, defect analysis, planned maintenance programmes and reinstatement cost assessments 

  • Assisting with the preparation and negotiation of schedules of dilapidations  

  • Preparing specification of works as part of a competitive tender exercise and analysing the tender returns 

  • Assisting the Contract Administrator on a wide range of construction projects including site inspections to monitor progress, contractor meetings, valuations and issuing certificates under the contract 

  • Assisting with the co-ordination of portfolio instructions 

  • Keeping your knowledge up to date with relevant continuing professional development (CPD) 

  • Clear career progression beyond chartership

Required Skills and Experience:  

  • Degree – Minimum 2:2 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Surveying that is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)  

  • An interest in the property industry and how we can shape its future 

  • You’ll be confident in communicating verbally and in written format to help with writing reports 

  • Excellent time management skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced commercial property consultancy 

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car 

  • A curious mindset so you can learn and grow with us 

  • A passion to contribute your thoughts, create fresh ideas, and challenge yourself to do more than you think you could 

 

Right to work in the UK: 

  • You will need to have permanent right to work in the UK, with no time restrictions or limited working hours. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visas, including Graduate Visas beyond the programme
