M61 - Full Stack Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to maintain, enhance, and support a portfolio of enterprise digital products and platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work across the full technology stack, contributing to both frontend and backend development while ensuring existing applications remain stable, secure, and maintainable.

You will write, review, and ship production code, troubleshoot and resolve defects, implement security patches, support application and platform migrations, and collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders.

Some applications within the portfolio are also undergoing modernisation, migration, or transition, providing opportunities to work across both existing systems and newer technology environments.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Develop, enhance, and maintain frontend and backend applications across multiple codebases.
• Build and maintain applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, backend APIs, services, and relational databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure, and production-ready code.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain appropriate engineering quality standards.

Application Maintenance & Support

• Maintain the stability and reliability of existing digital products and applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
• Perform security patching, infrastructure upkeep, monitoring, and technical maintenance.
• Provide L2/L3 application support and conduct root-cause analysis where required.
• Monitor application health, logs, metrics, and system performance.

Migration & Modernisation

• Support application migrations, technology upgrades, and platform modernisation initiatives.
• Assist with the migration of legacy applications to newer platforms and architectures.
• Support application transition, retirement, or handover activities where required.
• Ensure minimal disruption to existing services throughout migration and transition activities.

Cloud, DevOps & Observability

• Support cloud-hosted applications and containerised environments.
• Work with Docker and CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and delivery.
• Analyse application logs and metrics using AWS services such as ECS and CloudWatch.
• Work with observability technologies such as OpenTelemetry for tracing, metrics, and logs.

Documentation & Collaboration

• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and handover materials.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and delivery planning.
• Take ownership of application stability, maintainability, and overall engineering quality.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of hands-on Full Stack Software Engineering experience.
• Strong experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React.
• Experience developing and integrating backend APIs and services.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable working across multiple programming languages and existing codebases.
• Working knowledge of cloud-hosted applications and environments.
• Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience troubleshooting applications through logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with AWS ECS, CloudWatch, and/or OpenTelemetry is advantageous.
• Proficiency with Git, code reviews, and engineering quality gates.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale or high-availability digital platforms.
• Experience with application modernisation, migration, or legacy system retirement.
• Experience providing L2/L3 production application support.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices, security patching, and compliance requirements.
• Previous experience working within complex, highly regulated, or large-scale environments.
