The University of Miami/UHealth, Department of Public Health has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part-time Medical Student Advisor.  

The Capstone Faculty Advisor provides academic guidance, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to medical students completing the MD/MPH Program capstone experience. The position supports students in developing, implementing, and completing an approved capstone project that integrates public health concepts, evidence based practices, and the student’s academic and professional interests. The Capstone Faculty Advisor works collaboratively with the student and MD/MPH Program leadership to provide ongoing feedback, monitor progress, and support successful completion of capstone requirements.

Core responsibilities:

  • Provides academic advising and mentorship to assigned MD/MPH students throughout the capstone experience.
  • Guides students in developing and completing capstone projects.
  • Reviews project deliverables and provides constructive feedback.
  • Monitors student progress and addresses academic or project related concerns.
  • Collaborates with the Capstone Coordinator and program leadership to support successful completion of capstone requirements.

Core Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, EdD, or equivalent) in Public Health, Medicine, Health Sciences, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Professional certification or licensure in a relevant field preferred
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
