Shift: 1st
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Saturday and Sundays as‑needed to support operations. Additional compensation is provided for the 6th and 7th workdays.
Hours: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM/end of shift (flex as needed)
SUMMARY: This facility is part of our Prepared Foods business unit. The Senior Refrigeration Supervisor will be for leading and supporting the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of critical utility and refrigeration systems to ensure continuous plant operations, food safety, employee safety, and product quality. Oversees the Roundsman crew, manages Process Safety Management (PSM) and refrigeration programs, and collaborates with maintenance, HACCP, USDA, and plant leadership teams to maintain operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain boilers, air compressors, and refrigeration equipment to minimize downtime, prevent unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with USDA and food safety standards.
- Supervise and manage the Roundsman crew, providing guidance, direction, and accountability for daily operations and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety policies, food safety programs, and Tyson corporate Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
- Drive labor efficiency and effectiveness through effective workforce planning and resource utilization.
- Manage refrigeration systems to optimize efficiency, temperature control, shrink reduction, product quality, yields, ergonomics, workers' compensation performance, and overall plant profitability.
- Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate work assignments for the Roundsman crew in partnership with maintenance planners.
- Verify annual equipment license renewals and ensure all required operating certificates remain current and compliant.
- Participate in plant maintenance activities and support HACCP, USDA, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Ensure all equipment repairs and maintenance activities meet established food safety requirements and guidelines.
- Assist TCCS with Process Safety Management (PSM) and refrigeration programs as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to equipment, compliance, certifications, and maintenance activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-high school education desirable (special training, certification, vocational school, military training, college classes).
Experience: 5 years of industrial refrigeration maintenance experience.
Computer Skills: Competent in Windows-based software; ability to correspond via email, enter data into templates, create simple queries.
Communication Skills: Must communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and reading comprehension.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage hourly team members maintaining the engine room, boilers, and refrigeration system.
Special Skills: Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems; highly organized with strong time management and archiving skills. General mechanical skills, ammonia refrigeration, electrical (230–480V 3ph, 4160V, 110V control voltage), hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler operations, water treatment, plumbing. Fabrication and welding skills a plus. General knowledge of MMS helpful.
Travel: 1–5 trips/year for training and seminars.
