Greater Philadelphia Area - Estimator
A well-established, family-owned commercial specialty subcontractor in the Greater Philadelphia area is looking to add an experienced Estimator to their team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with 2-10 years of commercial estimating experience who wants to join a close-knit company where they can take ownership of their work, work directly with leadership, and continue growing their career.
The company specializes in commercial interiors and construction, with a strong focus on drywall, framing, ceilings and related scopes. They are looking for someone who understands the estimating process but also has a solid understanding of how projects are actually built.
What You'll Do
- Prepare accurate estimates and bids for commercial construction projects
- Review architectural drawings, specifications and project documents
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and scope reviews
- Develop labor and material pricing
- Review subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Identify potential scope gaps, conflicts and project risks
- Communicate with General Contractors and project teams throughout the bidding process
- Participate in pre-bid and post-bid discussions
- Help develop competitive and accurate proposals
- Work closely with company leadership on project selection and bid strategy
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and project information
- Potentially transition into additional project management responsibilities depending on experience and career goals
What We're Looking For
- 2-10 years of commercial construction estimating experience
- Experience with commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings or related interior scopes strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and labor requirements
- Experience performing detailed takeoffs and building estimates
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they become problems
- Comfortable communicating with General Contractors, vendors and internal team members
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Someone who is willing to get into the details of a project rather than simply pushing numbers through a spreadsheet
- Strong computer and estimating software skills
Software
Experience with estimating/takeoff software such as:
- On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
- Quick Bid
- Bluebeam
- Microsoft Excel
Experience with other estimating platforms is welcome.
