Scope of Position

The Boiler Service Technician II performs installation, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial hydronic and steam boiler systems while developing advanced technical expertise in boiler equipment, controls, and combustion systems. Working with moderate supervision, this role partners with customers, contractors, senior technicians, and internal teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality field service support. The position is responsible for maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring service documentation accuracy, and supporting successful equipment operation and performance.

This position has no direct reports.

This position reports to VP, Aftermarket Sales & Support. This role is onsite and is based in Centennial, Colorado.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment startups, inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.

  • Support installation verification and equipment commissioning activities on newly installed boiler systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial boilers, burners, pumps, and related equipment.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.

  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and startup documentation accurately and timely.

  • Provides  basic operator training and product demonstrations following equipment startup.

  • Maintain tools, service equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and utilize required PPE while working at customer sites.

  • Participate in technical training programs to develop product and industry knowledge.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by VP, Aftermarket Sales & Support or Company management.

  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

  • Travel Requirements: Travel to customer locations as needed.  Approximately 10-15%

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate Degree in HVAC, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.

  • HVAC technical school certification, trade school completion, or military mechanical training preferred or  2+ years of related HVAC, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or boiler service experience preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC, mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, plumbing, electrical systems, boiler service, or a related field preferred.

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to work in mechanical equipment rooms, rooftops, and industrial environments.

  • Ability to understand technical products and applications

  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic service reports.

  • Ability to learn technical troubleshooting and customer service skills.

  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.

  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, trade school lab experience, or part-time work in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance environments.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read simple wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.

  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and eagerness to learn.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently after training while maintaining a team-oriented approach.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Working Conditions:

This position is based at a manufacturing facility in Centennial, Colorado, with the majority of duties performed in an office environment. Employees are required to work on-site Monday through Friday, with scheduled working hours determined by the manager.

Occasionally, this role requires time spent on the manufacturing floor and in boiler room environments. While performing these duties, employees must adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and other required safety gear.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this role:

  • Boiler room environments with occasional office environment.

  • Noise level minimal with intervals of spikes.

  • Required to wear proper PPE and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on job sites and in the shop.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • While performing duties of the job, employees are required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces (when needed), use rigging equipment

  • Employees will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

  • Travel required – Approx. 10-15% of time

  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to [insert amount] pounds.

Pay Range:

The expected salary range for this position is $28.90 - $32.45 yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
