• Starting Rate: $24.61+ Shift Differential + $1.00 for 2nd shift

Job Description:  

 

The person hired for the position of Material Handler will work at our Newark, DE (Dawson Plant) 3M plant site.

 

As a Material Handler you will have will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

• Safely operated industrial vehicles (PIVs), such as forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Receive, move, pick, stage, and prepare materials for production and outbound shipments.
• Verify materials, quantities, packaging, labeling, and shipping information to help ensure accurate and timely shipments.
• Perform shipping and receiving activities, including identifying and reporting material or inventory discrepancies.
• Use SAP, barcode scanners, and other inventory systems to record and track material movement.
• Complete routine inventory activities, including cycle counts, to support inventory accuracy.
• Inspect trailers and material-handling equipment to ensure they meet established safety and operational requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by following 5S and established safety practices.
• Support production through material sequencing and other material-handling activities as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Cross-train in additional material-handling functions to support changing business and production needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications.

 

Required: (Basic Qualifications):

 

• Possess a High School Diploma / GED or higher (completed prior to start)
• Six (6) months of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, shipping/receiving, or material handling environment.
• Experience operating powered industrial vehicles (PIV), such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar material-handling equipment.
• Experience performing shipping, receiving, order picking, material movement, inventory control, or related warehouse activities.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to enter, retrieve, and verify inventory or shipping information in a computerized system.

 

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Previous experience using SAP, Acura 2 warehouse management systems, barcode scanners, or other inventory tracking systems.
• Experience with cycle counting, inventory accuracy, shipping/receiving, and customer-specific labeling requirements.
• Experience working in a 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement environment.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and experience identifying and reporting inventory, receiving, or shipping discrepancies.

The starting rate of pay for this position is $.24.61 This represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
