Coding Analyst, Health Information Management, Full Time, Day

Position Summary

The Coding Analyst is responsible for supporting the professional coding function through data analysis, operational reporting, workflow optimization, and technology administration. This role develops and maintains coding performance dashboards, monitors key operational and financial metrics, and provides actionable insights to support decision-making, compliance oversight, and revenue cycle performance. The position analyzes coding quality, productivity, denial trends, reimbursement outcomes, and payer policy changes to identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements.

Working collaboratively with coding leadership, billing teams, IT, vendors, and operational stakeholders, the analyst supports workflow design. The role also assists with vendor performance management, staffing and productivity benchmarking, technology evaluation, and the optimization of coding automation and AI-assisted solutions. Through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement efforts, this position helps ensure accurate reimbursement, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and alignment of coding operations.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

•    CPC certification (AAPC) or other AAPC certification
•    Minimum 5 years coding or revenue cycle experience
•    Advanced Excel and reporting skills
•    Experience with Athena or similar EHR systems
Preferred AAPC Certifications
•    CPC
•    CPB
•    CPMA
•    Data analytics training or certification

Skills
•    Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, professional coding, reimbursement methodologies, and payer requirements.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and recommend operational improvements.
•    Proficiency in developing reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support coding operations, quality monitoring, financial analysis, and leadership decision-making.
•    Experience utilizing electronic health records (EHRs), coding and encoder software, practice management systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
•    Ability to evaluate workflows, monitor vendor performance, and support process optimization, technology enhancements, and automation initiatives.
•    Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
•    Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present findings and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing regulatory, operational, and technology requirements.

Pay Range: $35.68 - $44.60 (per hour)
