MedStar Medical Group has an opening for a Cardiac Surgeon to join our team!Job Duties: Perform invasive and non-invasive cardiac surgery on patients who are seen at MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute. Provide consultations, follow-up care, and diagnostic and therapeutic services on both an in-patient and out-patient basis. Provide appropriate and necessary attending physician coverage of emergencies, including providing at least five (5) nights of on-call coverage per month. Provide clinical and professional medical services to patients consistent with professional qualifications and accepted standards of medical practice. Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered. Order appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures, as appropriate and necessary. Maintain progress notes using established guidelines, follow all established HIMS policies for maintenance and signing of medical records. Submit complete patient bills within established timeframe. Participate in medical staff quality improvement and review activities. Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as all applicable accreditation standards.Position requires shifts of 10 to 12 hours, including day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts and on-call duties. Full-time, 40 hours per week.Requires MD degree or equivalent, plus completion of seventy-two (72) months of training, including thirty-six (36) months in residency program and thirty-six (36) months in cardiac surgery fellowship(s), and a valid DC medical license. Position also requires American Board of Thoracic Surgery certification. Job is based at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, 110 Irving Street NW, Washington, DC 20010.
