The E&I Construction Supervisor supports the Construction E&I Lead in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality field execution. The role focuses on supervising daily electrical and instrumentation construction activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and coordinating closely with contractors, engineering, and commissioning teams. This position requires solid technical experience, strong field supervision capability, and disciplined execution of work packages under the direction of the Lead.
Accountability / Expectations
- Promote safe work practices and ensure crews follow all electrical and instrumentation safety rules, permit requirements, and site procedures.
- Execute construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, work packages, and instructions provided by the Construction E&I Lead.
- Supervise contractor teams performing cable pulling, termination, installation of instruments, panels, junction boxes, and electrical equipment.
- Identify field issues such as routing clashes, accessibility concerns, and installation constraints, escalating them to the Lead for resolution.
- Track daily progress (cable pulling, terminations, loop completion) and report deviations or delays to the Lead.
- Support construction sequencing for electrical load transfer, instrument migration, and control system cutover as directed.
- Provide field input during constructability reviews, focusing on practical installation concerns, hazardous area compliance, and maintainability.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure safe SIMOPS execution, proper tie‑in preparation, and efficient brownfield/greenfield work.
- Ensure engineering and procurement deliverables received at site (SLDs, ILDs, P&IDs, I/O lists, datasheets, cable drums, panels) are verified and ready for installation.
- Prepare and verify work package components such as cable schedules, termination sheets, loop diagrams, and material take‑offs under guidance from the Lead.
- Maintain accurate red‑line markups, as‑built updates, and test documentation for handover.
- Ensure installation complies with standards, requirements, grounding/bonding rules, and project specifications.
- Support commissioning teams with loop testing, instrument calibration, energization preparation, and functional testing activities.
- Monitor contractor performance, manpower allocation, and work‑front readiness, escalating resource gaps or performance issues.
- Implement Work Face Planning by ensuring crews receive validated work packages and required materials.
- Support coordination with operations for safe execution in live plant areas.
- Apply cold‑work strategies such as pre‑terminated cables, pre‑assembled cabinets, and modular assemblies when instructed by the Lead.
- Ensure construction execution aligns with project quality, schedule, and scope expectations.
Education
BSc. in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 5–10 years experience in Oil & Gas E&I construction.
Strong understanding of:
- LV/MV electrical distribution
- Instrument installation and calibration
- Loop testing and commissioning workflows
- Experience supervising E&I construction crews and contractors.
- Ability to manage multiple work fronts under direction from the Lead.
- High attention to detail, quality, and safe execution.
