Description
The successful candidate will join the Romania Finance team and report to the Senior Accounting Manager. This role will support core accounting activities while also partnering with the business on FP&A, forecasting, A/R monitoring, SOX controls, and continuous improvement. The position requires a hands-on accountant who can execute accurately, analyze results, follow up independently, and support a strong control environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
- Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on open items to ensure timely resolution
- Own and support FP&A processes, including forecast preparation, budget inputs, variance analysis, and business performance reporting
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, overdue balances, customer collections status, and related risk areas, escalating collection or credit-risk issues as needed and partnering with internal stakeholders to drive follow-up actions
- Prepare and maintain SOX control documentation, execute assigned controls, support testing, and help remediate findings
- Assist with statutory, tax, and compliance activities, including VAT, local reporting requirements, audit requests, and coordination with external advisors where needed
- Work with AP, AR, and general ledger processes to ensure accurate, timely, and complete transaction processing
- Prepare financial analysis and management reporting to explain trends, risks, and variances versus forecast, budget, and prior periods
- Identify and implement process improvements, standardization opportunities, and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and control quality
- Participate in finance projects, system/process changes, and cross-functional initiatives as required
- Maintain strong working relationships with local, regional, and corporate finance teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- At least 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of month-end close, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting processes
- Good understanding of Romanian statutory accounting and tax requirements; US GAAP experience is an advantage
- Experience with FP&A, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis is strongly preferred
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and strong Excel skills
- Experience with Power BI, data analytics, or financial reporting tools is an advantage
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Fluent English; Romanian language skills required
- Proactive, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working independently in a hands-on role
- Knowledge of SOX controls, audit support, and internal control documentation
