Description
We are working closely with a local authority in Milton Keynes to assist with the appointment of a Security Analyst ICT, on a 3.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £17.56- £22.23 per hour
Summary:
The ICT Security Analyst is responsible for protecting Milton Keynes Council's ICT infrastructure, systems, data, and digital services against cyber threats and vulnerabilities. The role supports the council's cyber security strategy by monitoring security events, responding to incidents, assessing cyber risks, implementing security controls, and ensuring compliance with recognised security frameworks and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitor ICT infrastructure, networks, cloud environments, and digital services for cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity.
- Analyse security events, identify potential incidents, and coordinate effective containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident activities.
- Conduct security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, system audits, and configuration reviews to ensure compliance with cyber security policies and baseline standards.
- Support the delivery of ICT projects by providing security advice, risk assessments, and technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
- Maintain and optimise Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 security solutions.
- Maintain awareness of emerging cyber threats, threat intelligence, security technologies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant professional cyber security qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
Essentials:
- Experience working within an enterprise ICT or Information Security environment.
- Experience monitoring, investigating, and responding to cyber security incidents.
- Experience using Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 security technologies.
- Experience analysing security alerts, logs, and threat intelligence to identify and respond to cyber threats.
- Experience conducting vulnerability assessments, security audits, and risk assessments.
- Experience working with recognised cyber security frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, CAF, NIST, and ISO 27001.
- Understanding of cloud security, endpoint security, email security, identity and access management, authentication, firewalls, and vulnerability management.
