The Opportunity:
As the School of Design and Construction (SDC) Academic Coordinator/Advisor, the majority of your responsibilities will include duties such as, but not limited to, academic coordination and advising for prospective and current undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program in the SDC; analyzing applications for certification; assessing academic level; responding to academic inquiries; academic advising, including developing individual academic plans; educating students in the areas of academic planning, interpretation of department, school, college, and university requirements, degree requirements, career exploration, and other related matters; counseling non-students about possible admission to university programs; providing academic planning advice for prospective transfer students; and providing support for processes associated with admission to the major.
The position has additional duties outside of student advisement essential to the effective operation of academic programs at the SDC, such as participating in program development for academic advising; coordinating student advising workshops and campus visits; providing coordination and support for recruitment and retention activities; assisting with the development of unit procedures and methodologies; and contributing to the management of program data collection and assessment activities.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience with computer software and programs, specifically the Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new software and programs quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work evening or weekend hours as necessary for recruitment activities.
- Experience with academic advising and related issues.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging and informative presentations to students and parents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience creating database queries and generating reports.
- Understanding of, and ability to apply, WSU policies and procedures as related to student records and degree program requirements.
- Knowledge of university computing systems such as the myWSU Advising Module and Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) as well as Slate.
- Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
- Experience with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
- Master’s degree in related field and more than 2 years of full-time experience with academic advising.
