Chemours is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our growing Minerals team! This position will report directly to the Sales Leader and can be based at either our Florida or Geogia location.
The Laboratory Supervisor oversees day-to-day operation of the Separations and Control Labs located in Starke, FL and Offerman, GA to ensure efficient and timely turnaround of quality analysis results. This includes supervision of Laboratory Technicians, scheduling of tasks, and monitoring the calibration and maintenance of all lab equipment, while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Ensure adherence to all MSHA Safety and Environmental rules as well as Chemours’ safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures (including Chemours’ Life Savings Rules)
· Maintain proficiency in laboratory procedures and underlying principles related to the methods in order to provide adequate training to employees and provide performance management to support continuous learning and consistent reliable lab results
· Schedule and deploy technicians to Separation Lab and Control Lab to achieve objectives in a cost-effective manner
· Supervise laboratory technicians in the use of XRF and other analytic equipment and methods, including computerized data handling and reporting. Troubleshoot assay problems
· Ensure efficient and timely turnaround of production sample analysis for various Minerals’ processing areas
· Coordinates, assigns, oversees, and conducts lab analysis work on all routine and non-routine samples, tasks and special projects requested by Chemours Minerals’ exploration, operations, and business, as well as Chemours’ off-site clients
· Daily reviews of production test data to ensure accurate, reliable results
· Monitor and maintain the appropriate level of lab inventory items to ensure no interruption to the day-to-day operation of the laboratory and processing of routine samples
· Coordinate and schedule proper calibration, maintenance, and repairs of all laboratory equipment with service providers
· Coordinate and monitor the progress and timely completion of maintenance work orders
· Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas
· Payroll Time keeping – record keeping and submittal of regular time, over time, vacation, holidays etc. for payroll
· Cultivate and maintain a respectful team work environment
The following is required for this role:
· Minimum of four years’ experience in laboratory operations
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Highly skilled in the use of standard desktop applications (MS-Office)
· Safety conscious. Awareness and implementation of mine safety practices and environmental and safety standards specific to the laboratory
The following is preferred for this role:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience working with SAP is preferred
- Working knowledge of heavy mineral separation techniques
· Several years of industry experience supervising Mineralogy laboratories is preferred
