SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under general supervision, performs technical tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater utility concrete repairs. Employees in this job series perform technical, manual work. Water Utilities Concrete Restoration Technicians are responsible for repairing water utility cuts and operate and maintain moderate to complex equipment. They perform related work as required.GENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Assists crew members with small hand tools like shovels and concrete rakes.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and tools by cleaning and servicing regularly. 
  • Cleans and repairs work site upon completion of construction or projects..
  • Assists preparing work areas and securing job sites by setting up cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices with supervision.
  • Assists with setting up forms and rebar for street cut repairs with supervision.
  • Operates simple to moderately complex equipment, such as jack hammers, tampers, grinders and motorized hand tools.
  • Works efficiently with iPads while entering work orders within CityWorks.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to perform coordinated movements, which involve placing and turning motions, such as operating a backhoe, dump truck and trailer, front-end loader, air compressor, gas and electrical pumps, and various hand tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.

Highschool diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by previous experience and/or training involving concrete construction, maintenance and repair type work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Some experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Some experience with outside elements and manual labor. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must have Class C Texas Driver’s License
  • Must obtain the National Incident Merit System (NIMS) certificate IS-100 and IS-700 within 6 months of employment. 
  • During storms or natural disasters, staff will be divided into two 12-hour shifts. During storms or natural disasters, staff may be called in while on vacation. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 150 pounds). Some tasks require visual and odor perception and discrimination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
There is limited exposure to environmental conditions. Tasks may require exposure to strong odors and/or smoke, traffic hazards, extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions.
