Position: Developer Intern
Reports to: Director of IT – Kerry Bruce
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Length of Internship: 10-20 weeks
Weekly Hours: Up to 29 hours per week
When Work Happens: Monday – Friday during normal business hours (7:00 am -3:30 pm); flexible to accommodate class schedules
Where Work Happens: In person; B&D Industries, Inc. (Location details provided during interview process)

The IT Support Intern will assist the IT team with entry-level technical support and administrative tasks while gaining exposure to enterprise systems, professional IT operations, and workplace expectations in a fast-paced environment that values collaboration, learning, and a fun workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist with developing and maintaining integrations between enterprise systems, including construction platforms, ERP/accounting systems, CRM tools, and Microsoft 365.
- Support basic workflow automations using approved Microsoft tools, including Power Platform and related technologies.
- Assist with API-based integration tasks using REST/JSON concepts under the direction of experienced developers.
- Help test integrations, automations, and system changes; document results and report defects or unexpected behavior.
- Assist with monitoring existing integrations for reliability, performance, and data accuracy.
- Help troubleshoot assigned integration or automation issues and escalate complex problems as directed.
- Create and maintain entry-level technical documentation, including workflow diagrams, data mappings, troubleshooting notes, and support procedures.
- Support data-quality activities by identifying duplicate records, missing information, synchronization issues, and inconsistent formats.
- Participate in version-control processes using Git-based platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Follow established development practices for code management, testing, peer review, logging, error handling, and deployment.
- Maintain traceability of work through Helpdesk tickets, change records, source control, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with senior and junior developers, IT staff, CIM, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and improve workflows.
- Follow least-privilege access, data-handling, change-management, and secure-development practices at all times.
- Participate in IT department training and learning opportunities to build foundational development, integration, and professional skills.
- Physical demands include long hours sitting, prolonged computer use, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing.
- Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CNM student in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Development, Information Technology, or a related program preferred.
- Basic understanding of programming concepts, databases, APIs, data integration, or workflow automation preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar tools is helpful but not required.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communicator who is organized, dependable, curious, and eager to learn.
- Ability to follow structured development, documentation, security, and governance processes.
