WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
Your primary role is to support, assist and deliver scientific writing support for Vaccines external communications including, but not limited to, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations. You will collaborate with the Vaccines Preclinical Publications team, Research Scientific Leads, Subject Matter Experts and Key Stakeholders to ensure publications are completed in a timely manner, with high quality, and in compliance at all steps. This is a temporary position (minimum of 9 months) focused on maintaining project momentum and providing operational support to research teams within the Vaccines organization. This role includes scientific writing activities, such as conducting literature searches and helping shape data presentation; however, the primary developmental focus of this secondment is assisting in publication coordination. Candidates should expect to spend a substantial portion of their time managing publication timelines, author communications, internal reviews, compliance, tracking, recordkeeping, and submission-related activities. While this is not a primary author role, candidates with strong scientific writing and analytical skills may have opportunities to contribute to content development, literature reviews, data presentation, and scientific communications activities, depending on business needs and individual experience.
HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT
- Assist with Vaccines manuscript development activities at the discretion of the Research Leads, including but not limited to, drafting, publication/timeline planning, document review and editing, author communications, meeting coordination, publication metrics tracking, and maintenance of publication/presentation records and SharePoint resources.
- Work with cross-functional teams, internal and external to Pfizer, following established publication and compliance processes (Vaccine-specific and enterprise).
- Help researchers communicate complex scientific findings clearly and accurately through effective writing and data presentation.
- Work as a liaison between relevant functional leads in Vaccines and key external collaborators.
- Ensure documents are of high quality, scientifically accurate, and prepared according to established timelines.
- Familiarize yourself with Pfizer publication policies and SOPs, including the use of AI in publications.
- Help co-lead and organize monthly, Preclinical Publication Meetings including agenda setting and content.
- Conduct literature searches and prepare publication-quality figures, as needed.
- Review and advise on journal or meeting guidelines and procedures for communications.
- Attend program research meetings and Vaccines Scientific Publications Committee (SPC) meetings, as needed.
- Organize and track preclinical publication metrics for leadership consumption.
- Partner with colleagues in the Vaccines Scientific Operations team on shared goals and deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
- Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 3+ years of experience.
- Degree in life sciences discipline.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills; attention-to-detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to multitask and successfully manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and data interpretation.
- Knowledge of vaccines or infectious diseases.
- Project management experience.
Nice-to-Have
- Master's degree with more than 1+ year of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6+ years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Currently based in the Vaccines organization and/or at the Pearl River, NY site.
- Experience reviewing scientific or technical content.
- Experience serving as a first (or lead) author on a manuscript.
- Strong knowledge of infectious diseases, relevant pathogens, vaccines, and vaccine technologies.
- Proficiency in reference management software (EndNote, ReadCube).
- Experience delivering results in a tight deadline environment.
- Experience collaborating with scientific and business stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
- Familiarity with softwarefor graphics (e.g GraphPad Prism, PyMol, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, BioRender).
- Proficiency in various AI tools (CoPilot, Gemini, Claude, and others).
