Description

The Laundry Manager is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Laundry Department, including the processing, quality, inventory, distribution, and timely availability of linens, terry, and other laundry items throughout the resort. This position ensures laundry operations meet established quality, sanitation, safety, productivity, and service standards while effectively managing department staffing, scheduling, supplies, equipment, and expenses.


The Laundry Manager provides leadership and direction to department team members, promotes a positive and accountable work environment, and works closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Engineering, and other departments to ensure operational needs are consistently met.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Laundry Operations

  • Direct and oversee daily laundry operations, including the collection, sorting, washing, drying, finishing, folding, storage, and distribution of linens, terry, uniforms, and other laundry items.
  • Ensure laundry is processed accurately, efficiently, and within established timeframes to meet operational demands.
  • Monitor the quality, condition, cleanliness, and presentation of all processed laundry.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate par levels for linens, terry, and other laundry items.
  • Monitor laundry inventory and ensure adequate supplies are available to support daily operations, special events, and anticipated periods of increased business.
  • Identify damaged, worn, stained, or otherwise unusable items and coordinate replacement or removal as appropriate.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of clean and soiled laundry to maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Evaluate departmental processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and service.
  • Anticipate operational needs and develop solutions for high-volume periods, staffing challenges, equipment issues, and other interruptions to normal operations.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to Laundry Department team members.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding job performance, productivity, attendance, safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Schedule and assign team members based on business needs, staffing levels, workload, and department priorities.
  • Monitor staffing levels and labor productivity to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining appropriate labor costs.
  • Train and develop team members on laundry procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, quality standards, and departmental expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, recognition, and development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Administer coaching and corrective action consistently, fairly, and professionally.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, respect, and open communication within the department.
  • Support recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of qualified team members.

Inventory, Purchasing & Financial Management

  • Monitor departmental expenses and manage resources responsibly to support established financial goals.
  • Review labor costs, productivity, supply usage, and other departmental expenses and take corrective action when needed.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for linens, terry, chemicals, cleaning supplies, and other departmental materials.
  • Coordinate the ordering and purchasing of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Monitor product usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and control costs without compromising quality or operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records related to inventory, purchasing, equipment, staffing, and departmental operations.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and other financial responsibilities as assigned.

Equipment & Facility

  • Ensure laundry equipment is operated properly and maintained in good working condition.
  • Partner with Engineering to address equipment concerns, repairs, preventive maintenance, and operational issues.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report or escalate maintenance concerns.
  • Ensure the laundry facility is clean, organized, secure, and maintained in a manner that supports safe and efficient operations.
  • Identify equipment or process improvements that may increase productivity, efficiency, or quality.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained on the safe and appropriate use of laundry equipment.

Departmental Service & Communication

  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, and other departments to understand and respond to laundry needs.
  • Communicate operational concerns, shortages, delays, equipment issues, and other service impacts to appropriate leadership.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to departmental concerns related to laundry quality, availability, or service.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication between Laundry and other resort departments.
  • Support special events, high-volume periods, and other operational needs as assigned.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with established safety procedures, chemical handling requirements, equipment operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure team members receive appropriate training regarding workplace safety, chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and proper equipment operation.
  • Monitor compliance with established laundry procedures and quality standards.
  • Take appropriate action to address safety hazards, quality concerns, and operational deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation and assist with audits or inspections as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of team member, operational, and other sensitive information in accordance with established procedures.

SUPERVISORY AND LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises and oversees all laundry associates within the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

 

S.I.G.E. TRIBAL - STATE COMPACT & ACCOUNTING & INTERNAL CONTROL

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for internal control and compact compliance regarding operations and ensure compliance with regulation of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or training in hospitality, business, management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience in laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, or a related environment required.
  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial laundry finishing equipment, including industrial flatwork ironers and automated linen/flatwork folders required.
  • Experience working in a high-volume laundry operation preferred.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial laundry equipment preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management, scheduling, labor management, and departmental budgeting preferred.
  • Experience leading, training, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Experience working in a hotel, resort, casino, or other hospitality environment preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of commercial laundry operations, including washing, drying, finishing, folding, sorting, and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge of textile care, linen and terry handling, laundry chemicals, and related equipment.
  • Ability to effectively lead, coach, train, and develop a diverse team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to work around heat, humidity, noise, chemicals, and industrial laundry equipment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced commercial laundry environment.
