Description

A feed company is looking for a Technical Advisor – Dairy to join its team in the Kleinberg area of the Western Cape. This opportunity is suited to a commercially minded agricultural professional with a strong interest in dairy and animal nutrition. The successful candidate will provide technical advice on animal-feed products, build lasting customer relationships and grow sales within the region

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell animal-feed products to existing and prospective customers, while providing technical and product support
  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets, grow sales volumes and margins, and contribute to improved farm performance and profitability
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through regular farm and client visits
  • Identify customer needs, develop opportunities with key accounts, and provide practical, value-adding solutions
  • Keep up to date with animal-feed industry developments, competitor activity and market pricing
  • Apply animal-nutrition principles and understand feed products and their technical applications
  • Understand forage production, including dryland and irrigated pastures and other relevant forage crops
  • Monitor product performance on farms and gather relevant production information from livestock operations
  • Prepare accurate sales reports, customer visit reports and other documentation within agreed deadlines
  • Participate in industry events, study groups and trade shows, and assist with technical articles and projects as required
  • Manage relevant administration, customer liaison, non-conformance reporting and outstanding accounts

Minimum Requirements

  • B Agric / BSc Agric, or a three-year agricultural diploma
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in sales and marketing
  • A valid Code 08/EB driver’s licence
  • Ability to obtain SACNASP registration as a Professional Natural Scientist
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience in animal-feed milling
  • Experience in dairy production, ruminant nutrition or forage systems
