In this role, you will take full ownership of end-to-end data center expansion across Spain, transforming site concepts into high-performing, revenue-generating facilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, external contractors, and local authorities to navigate permitting, direct complex MEP and civil engineering work, and maintain strict quality standards. Here, your technical leadership will directly shape the future of our digital infrastructure while driving sustainable, high-impact growth.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) In this role, you will:
- Lead project delivery: Direct full lifecycle design, permitting, and construction for new-build and expansion data center projects across Spain.
- Manage cross-functional teams: Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, architectural, and contractor partners to ensure seamless execution.
- Drive project controls: Oversee budgets, schedules, risk registers, change logs, and quality tracking using platforms like Procore, ACC, and Facility Grid.
- Ensure regulatory and technical compliance: Navigate local Spanish building codes, permitting processes, and international standards while maintaining internal IMDC delivery protocols.
- Oversee commissioning and activation: Guide integrated systems testing, ASHRAE commissioning workflows, and operational handovers to internal security, IT, and operations teams.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications) The ideal candidate will have:
- 5–10 years of experience in managing complex design and construction projects within mission-critical sectors such as data centers, high-tech labs, or MEP-heavy environments.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems (UPS, chillers, BMS, fire protection), Spanish regulations, and project scheduling tools like Primavera or Microsoft Project.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management, or local equivalent (e.g., Level 5 or 6 engineering qualifications).
- Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish with proven experience managing capital projects in Spain and the EU. Valuable fluency in Portuguese as well but not required
What We Offer (Benefits)
- Location: Based in Madrid, Spain, with on-site travel 4 days per week (occasional UK/EU travel as required).
- Competitive compensation and benefits aligned with experience.
- Flexible work options/alternative work options to support work–life balance.
- Comprehensive health, wellness, and retirement plans.
- Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth.
