Collections Specialist / Accounts Receivable

We're a staffing agency and we're looking for a proactive, firm, and results-driven Collections Specialist to work closely with a successful business owner and take full ownership of our Accounts Receivable functions.

If you are someone who isn’t afraid of a past-due account, knows how to push things over the finish line, and brings a blend of sharp collections skills and persuasive communication, this role is for you.

 

What You'll Be Doing

Accounts Receivable & Collections

• Own Collections: Take full responsibility for unpaid balances, past-due accounts, and outstanding invoices without needing constant supervision.

• Proactive Outreach: Confidently contact clients, follow up on late payments, and negotiate payment arrangements to bring overdue accounts current.

• Problem-Solving Accounts: Identify reasons for payment delays, navigate pushback or difficult client interactions, and resolve billing disputes efficiently.

• Track & Report: Keep accurate records of all collection efforts, payment statuses, and client communications.

Invoicing & Financial Admin

• Invoice Management: Assist with generating, issuing, and keeping track of invoices accurately and on time.

• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date account records, reconcile entries, and assist with basic administrative accounting tasks using tools like QuickBooks.

• Process Improvement: Spot bottlenecks in the billing and collection pipeline and work out practical ways to improve cash flow.

 

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with extensive experience handling AR and chasing payments, supported by a strong foundation in administration and financial tools.

You should have:

• Strong AR & Collections Experience: Proven track record of managing receivables, handling past-due accounts, and lowering aged balances.

• Sales & Persuasion Skills: The ability to negotiate effectively, overcome objections, and push for resolutions while maintaining a professional relationship.

• Accounting & Admin Knowledge (Nice to Have): Hands-on experience with QuickBooks, invoicing workflows, and basic bookkeeping or financial admin.

• Clear Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills with a confident, direct style.

• Self-Sufficiency: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment and manage multiple priorities seamlessly.

We need someone with a strong, direct, and dynamic personality—someone who naturally steps up and takes charge of tough conversations.

• Confident: Comfortable picking up the phone or reaching out directly to resolve stalled payments.

• Practical & Solution-Oriented: Focused on getting results and collecting funds rather than getting bogged down in obstacles.

• Resilient: Able to handle challenging conversations smoothly without losing focus or momentum.

 

The Right Mindset

This role will work well for someone who naturally thinks:

"What do I need to do to get this invoice paid today?"

rather than:

"Which account was assigned to me to email?"

The owner doesn't want to spend their day checking whether past-due accounts have been chased or asking for updates. The successful person will step in, take full ownership of collections, and keep cash flow running reliably.
