A-MED is seeking an experienced paramedic for a PRN Community Paramedic position stationed in Gretna, Louisiana. As part of our Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) team serving Greater New Orleans, you will respond to dispatches, conduct initial and follow-up home visits, and provide high-quality care under physician orders, regional protocols, and A-MED standards of care.
This position requires driving 1.5 to 2 hours to patient visits. You must be comfortable working independently, collaborating with a care planning team, and providing compassionate, professional service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide patient care consistent with physician orders, regional protocols, and A-MED standards of care.
- Treat patients with kindness and professionalism.
- Complete initial and follow-up home visits as assigned.
- Operate MIH vehicles safely and in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Complete required equipment checks before beginning service each shift. Verify minimum stock levels and proper equipment function, and document findings in Traumasoft.
- Complete and submit all required daily documentation and paperwork.
- Ensure deployed A-MED devices are properly tracked and remain operational.
- Maintain all required permits, licenses, and certifications.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Current NREMT paramedic certification and Louisiana paramedic license.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness and ability to drive 1.5 to 2 hours to patient visits.
- At least three years of experience as a paramedic.
- Good clinical standing and successful completion of the required clinical scenario and PT tests.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a care planning team.
- Complete required Community Paramedic and A-MED equipment and device training, and participate in ongoing training as additional skills are introduced.
