  • Lead and support core general ledger closing activities in compliance with established month-end schedules and U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare, calculate, document, and post routine and complex journal entries, including standard recurring entries, accruals, prepayments, allocations, and revenue/expense reclassifications.
  • Research and investigate general ledger discrepancies and provide clear variance explanations against prior periods and historical trends.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and financial accounting modules.

2. Balance Sheet Reconciliations & Account Analysis

  • Identify, investigate, and correct accounting anomalies, misclassifications, and inconsistencies across financial records.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation meets internal control and SOX compliance standards.

3. Gap Coverage & Department Support

  • Absorb and execute assigned operational workflows typically managed by other teammates in their absence, ensuring no disruption in day-to-day finance operations.
  • Review Accounts Payable batches, payment runs, checks, and electronic fund transfers for accuracy, proper authorization, and GL coding.
  • Assist with vendor issue resolution, credit memo applications, and special payment processing workflows.
  • Provide ad hoc data extraction, transaction research, and accounting analysis to support leadership and operational requests.

4. Process Improvement & Audit Support

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering audit samples, PBC (Provided by Client) schedules, and general ledger support.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and department Job Aids to ensure accurate documentation of desk procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline recurring month-end close schedules and reconciliation templates.

5. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Perform other related duties, special projects, and administrative tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Finance Manager to support the General Accounting team.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of accounting or general ledger experience
  • Specialized Experience:
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience executing month-end close workflows and journal entries.

    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, and large data set manipulation).

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills with keen attention to detail.
  • High adaptability and willingness to take on varied operational tasks across accounting disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teammates and leadership.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities to manage competing priorities during tight closing cycles.
