Job Description:

POSITION:   EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR- FULL TIME  

LOCATION:     All Campuses  

DESCRIPTION:  

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is accepting applications for an on-campus, Full Time Early Childhood Care and Education Instructor for the Division of Education & Business, starting in the Fall. This position will start in the Fall semester. Under general supervision,  prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses at a technical college. Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve online classes.   

  

The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the program curriculum to adults or high school students participating in college-level classes at the college or at participating area high schools. The instructor will report to the Division Chair.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  

• Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques  

• Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required  

• Understands and is experienced in practices and procedures necessary to effectively teach the subject matter  

• Follows approved course syllabi  

• Completes all documentation related to assigned courses in a timely manner  

• Maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned property  

Day, evening and online classes may be available based on scheduling needs  

MINIMUM  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development. Appropriate degree must reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency.  The successful candidate may also hold a Master’s degree in a related field provided they have also completed at least 18 graduate semester hours (or equivalent quarter hours) in the program of study.   

  

Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Position may require day/evening/distance learning classes and activities. Position may involve courses at Dual Enrollment Academies or High School sites. The successful candidate must be willing to work teaching shifts that might require split teaching days, and/or multiple campuses.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

Graduate study beyond the minimum.   

Three or more years, within the past seven years, of full-time, in-field teaching experience in a secondary or post-secondary Early Childhood Education program. Experience must include the competencies, skill and knowledge levels the instructor will be expected to teach. Master level courses must include content  from birth to 3rd grade (age 12). American Heart CPR Instructor.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:  

Salary range is $55,000 - $60,000, which will be determined by education, experience, and other qualifications. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
