We are seeking a strategic and technically capable Senior Program Manager to lead customer-facing aerospace, defense, and space programs from contract award through successful delivery. This highly visible leadership role serves as the primary interface between customers and internal teams, with responsibility for cost, schedule, technical performance, contractual compliance, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will develop trusted customer relationships, lead cross-functional execution, proactively manage risks and opportunities, and drive program success in support of critical aerospace, defense, and space applications.

What you'll do

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals, proven program management expertise, business acumen, and exceptional communication skills. Success in this role requires a leader who communicates early and often, influences stakeholders across a matrix organization, balances customer needs with business objectives, and consistently delivers results in complex, highly regulated environments. Essential responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Lead development, qualification, production, and sustainment programs from contract award through final delivery.
  • Own program performance across cost, schedule, technical execution, contractual commitments, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans, schedules, forecasts, and execution strategies.
  • Monitor program performance, drive corrective actions, and ensure successful delivery of all program objectives.
  • Provide clear and timely program status, risks, forecasts, and recommendations to customers and executive leadership.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface and trusted advisor for assigned programs.
  • Establish strong customer relationships through transparency, responsiveness, and execution excellence.
  • Manage customer expectations, contract changes, and program priorities while preventing scope creep and protecting business objectives.
  • Support proposal efforts, contract modifications, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Perform variance analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management (i.e. earned value management system)
  • Lead risk and opportunity management activities, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of potential issues.
  • Establish recovery plans and drive resolution of cost, schedule, technical, and operational challenges.
  • Ensure disciplined change management and program control processes are maintained.
  • Lead and influence matrixed teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Contracts, Finance, and Business Development.
  • Facilitate effective communication and decision-making among customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, internal procedures, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline - required
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, optoelectronic, or related technical industries - required
  • Minimum 7 years of Program Management or Project Management experience managing technically complex programs - required

  • Ability to understand technical challenges and effectively communicate with engineering teams, customers, and executive leadership - required
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders in a matrix organization - required
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills -required
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or related field - advantage
  • PMP certification - advantage
  • Experience managing aerospace, defense, military, space, or high-reliability electronics programs - advantage
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), technology development, qualification, and production programs - advantage
  • Familiarity with government contracts, military specifications, aerospace standards, and customer-specific quality requirements - advantage
