As a member of Neogen’s Global Portfolio team, the Global Portfolio Associate - Food Safety supports portfolio management activities through data analysis, project coordination, lifecycle execution, market insight development, and commercial initiatives.
Working closely with Portfolio Managers and cross-functional partners, this role helps organize and analyze portfolio information, coordinate product and commercial activities, and support informed business decisions. The position provides an opportunity to build expertise in portfolio management, commercial strategy, product lifecycle management, and the Food Safety market while contributing to global portfolio growth and optimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Portfolio Performance and Support
- Support Portfolio Managers in monitoring the performance of assigned product portfolios.
- Track and organize portfolio information including revenue, volume, pricing, product mix, supply performance, and customer trends.
- Prepare portfolio review materials, dashboards, reports, and performance analyses.
- Gather and organize data to support portfolio reviews, planning discussions, and business decisions.
- Participate in portfolio planning activities and contribute information and analysis to support recommendations and improvement opportunities.
- Develop knowledge of portfolio management principles, business drivers, and commercial performance metrics.
Lifecycle and Portfolio Optimization
- Support product lifecycle management activities across assigned portfolios.
- Coordinate product updates involving packaging, labeling, specifications, pricing, product information, and other portfolio changes.
- Maintain portfolio documentation, product hierarchies, lifecycle records, and supporting data.
- Support initiatives designed to improve portfolio effectiveness, simplify product offerings, and enhance customer value.
- Assist with portfolio rationalization, product enhancements, and product change initiatives.
- Partner with Portfolio Managers and cross-functional teams to support lifecycle execution and established portfolio management processes.
Market, Customer, and Competitive Insights
- Gather, organize, and summarize customer, market, competitor, and industry information.
- Support market research, competitive benchmarking, and opportunity assessments.
- Compile customer feedback, sales input, Technical Services observations, and regional market insights.
- Monitor relevant market developments and communicate findings to Portfolio Managers and other stakeholders.
- Assist with the development of presentations, analyses, and recommendations based on market and customer insights.
- Build knowledge of customer applications, purchasing drivers, competitive dynamics, and market trends across Neogen’s Food Safety portfolio.
Growth and Commercial Enablement
- Support Portfolio Managers with portfolio growth, pricing, retention, and product adoption initiatives.
- Assist with the development and coordination of commercial materials, product communications, presentations, and sales resources.
- Coordinate activities with Marketing, Sales, Technical Services, Regional teams, and other cross-functional partners.
- Collect and analyze data to help evaluate the effectiveness of commercial programs and portfolio initiatives.
- Support business case development, product positioning activities, and opportunity evaluations.
- Participate in portfolio growth initiatives while developing knowledge of commercial strategy and portfolio management.
Project Support and Coordination
- Support portfolio projects and initiatives led by Portfolio Managers and cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate meetings, agendas, action items, project documentation, and follow-up activities.
- Track project milestones, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
- Gather information and prepare updates for portfolio projects and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and communicate project risks, dependencies, delays, or issues requiring escalation.
- Support product launches, continuous improvement initiatives, and other cross-functional projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Up to three years of professional experience in product management, portfolio management, marketing, commercial operations, project coordination, or a related field.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and analyze data or information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and assignments.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with teams across multiple functions, regions, and time zones.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting product, portfolio, marketing, commercial, or project-based initiatives.
- Experience working with data analysis, reporting, dashboards, or business performance metrics.
- Experience supporting product lifecycle activities, product launches, pricing initiatives, or commercialization projects.
- Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, or customer insight analysis.
- Experience within food safety, food science, microbiology, diagnostics, laboratory testing, or a related industry.
- Experience working with global or geographically distributed teams.
- Familiarity with portfolio management, product management, commercial strategy, or product lifecycle management concepts.

Location and Working Style
This position is remote and requires regular collaboration with global teams across multiple functions, regions, and time zones. Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required.
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to support portfolio projects, regional meetings, customer events, product launches, and other business initiatives.
