Summary of the Job:
This developmental role gains hands-on experience with Python, and cloud-based technologies, including services within Amazon Web Services (AWS), while completing clearly scoped assignments under the guidance of Banking Automation Engineers and senior team members. The intern supports reliable automation solutions that integrate with enterprise data platforms and reporting tools.
The ideal candidate combines curiosity, attention to detail, and a process improvement mindset with an interest in learning how cloud environments and automation technologies support resilient, maintainable solutions within a regulated banking environment.
About This Role:
Job Responsibilities
· Assist with designing, developing, and testing automation solutions using Python, and workflow platforms
· Support automation scripts used for data processing, reporting workflows, and operational processes
· Translate documented requirements and examples into small, maintainable automation components under team guidance
· Gain exposure to developing and deploying automation workflows using services within Amazon Web Services (AWS)
· Utilize AWS services such as:
· Compute (e.g., Lambda, EC2) for running automation processes
· Storage (e.g., S3) for handling input/output data
· Scheduling and orchestration (e.g., EventBridge, Step Functions)
· Assist with secure access and integration activities while adhering to enterprise security and compliance standards
· Help identify manual, repetitive tasks that may be candidates for process improvement or automation
· Partner with Banking Automation Engineers and stakeholders to understand process design and automation requirements
· Participate in testing automation solutions for accuracy, completeness, and reliability
· Assist with validating outputs against source systems and business expectations
· Support deployment and monitoring activities for automation solutions with supervision
· Work with structured data using SQL and cloud platforms such as Snowflake as assigned
· Document automation logic, workflows, test results, and AWS architecture for maintainability and auditability
· Follow established coding standards, naming conventions, version control practices, and development procedures
· Follow internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations
· Work with Banking Automation Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers to support end-to-end solutions
· Participate in intake, discovery, peer review, demonstrations, and learning sessions
· Provide basic support and troubleshooting for existing automation processes with supervision
The Ideal Candidate for This Role:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Foundational understanding of automation concepts
· Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts, particularly within Amazon Web Services (AWS)
· Basic understanding of data structures, relational databases, and data processing concepts
· Academic, personal, or project-based experience with Python or another programming language
· Basic SQL skills or coursework for querying and validating data
· Interest in learning AWS services such as:
· Lambda, S3, EC2, or similar cloud services
· Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to follow logical troubleshooting steps and ask for guidance when needed
· Ability to translate clear requirements into small, testable automation components
· Ability to follow structured development, testing, and deployment processes
· Ability to organize assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and communicate progress or blockers
· Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
· Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and cloud platforms
Required
· Currently pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field
· Academic, personal, or project-based experience with Python or a similar programming language
· Basic familiarity with SQL, relational databases, spreadsheets, or data processing
· Ability to work in a team environment and complete assignments with guidance
· Authorization and availability to participate in the organization’s internship program
Desired
· Coursework or project experience with Python, SQL, automation, software development, or data analytics
· Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or another cloud platform through coursework, labs, or personal projects
· Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake
· Exposure to workflow orchestration or scheduling concepts
· Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.Work Environment:
It is anticipated that the incumbent in this role will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing in-person collaboration three (3) days a week with remote flexibility two (2) days a week.
