Work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

The Senior Investment Analyst, Investments Back Office Reconciliations has responsibilities for reconciliations across cash, securities, asset values, commitments and payables/receivables. The individual works across the Back Office to drive closure of open items and across Nationwide’s Office of Investments, Custodians, Asset Managers, and Technology Providers to obtain the data and abilities necessary to support an ever more complicated environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess current state reconciliation landscape, identify gaps/areas for improvements, develop innovative and efficient reconciliation methods, and drive timely resolution of exceptions

• Partner with stakeholders, incl. Technology, to design more detailed, scaled, and efficient reconciliations

• Adopt a proactive mindset to incorporate the current state reconciliation landscape with an eye toward the future

• Work with external and internal counterparties to ensure that the team has consistent access to (structured) data on a timely basis

• Ensure reconciliations and any required follow up are conducted within timelines established under controls and best practices

• Advocate for Nationwide needs in interactions with custodians, external parties (e.g., asset managers), and clients

• Work with internal partners to ensure that the Back Office understands and can support the needs of Controllership, Financial Risk Controls, Internal Audit, External Audit, the Front Office, and Senior Management

• Act as the primary owner of financial risk controls that are supported by the reconciliation infrastructure

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Fixed Income Operations - Investment Professional or Senior Investment Professional

Typical Skills and Experience:

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience in Investment Operations, Business Intelligence Reporting, Investment Accounting, or Financial Services. Experience with reconciliation processes, including transaction, position, and cash reconciliations, is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Knowledge of reconciliation and investment asset management best practices

• Distill data and information in a meaningful way

• Lean in and challenge thinking

• Finding opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills

• Trying new things, asking questions, searching for answers, and taking in new information

• Value differences and seek diverse perspectives

• Conceptual understanding of end-to-end investments process flows

• Intermediate understanding of Fixed Income and Equity Securities

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
