About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Paraplanner to join our Australian advice business. Working closely with our advisers, you will research, model and prepare compliant, high-quality advice for a growing client base, many of whom have cross-border financial needs.
You will own advice preparation from fact find through to final Statement of Advice, act as a technical sounding board for advisers, and help improve the quality and efficiency of how we deliver advice.
Why This Role Is Different
At Hoxton, we actively invest in modern advice technology and tools to remove unnecessary admin and red tape. Our aim is to be as efficient as possible, so our people spend their time on high-value technical work and our clients get the best possible experience. You'll have a real voice in how these tools are adopted and improved.

- Prepare SOAs and Records of Advice across superannuation, retirement, investment, insurance, estate planning and annual reviews
- Research and model strategies, including cash flow, retirement projections, and product and platform comparisons
- Make sure all advice meets the Best Interests Duty and related obligations under the Corporations Act
Adviser Partnership
- Review fact finds and client meeting notes to understand client goals and identify gaps
- Work with advisers on strategy development, and challenge recommendations where needed
- Guide team members on implementation documents
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure advice files and accurate file notes are maintained, and ready for audit
- Work closely with our compliance and Quality Assurance team members and act on review feedback quickly and thoroughly
- Review work prepared by junior paraplanners and client services staff, and mentor them
Technology, Process & Improvement
- Use our advice technology and tools to work smarter, and help identify new ways to improve efficiency
- Help improve advice templates, research tools and advice workflows
- Identify bottlenecks and help improve our advice process as the business grows
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 4+ years' paraplanning experience in Australian financial advice, including writing complex SOAs and including SMSFs
- Strong technical knowledge of superannuation, retirement income, investments and tax
- Sound understanding of the Best Interests Duty and current regulatory requirements
- Experience using financial planning software, research tools and modelling tools
- Excellent written communication, with the ability to produce clear, client-friendly advice documents
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow structured processes
- Professional, calm, and client-focused approach
Desirable
- Experience mentoring or reviewing other paraplanners' work
- Experience with UK pensions or cross-border advice (advantageous, but not essential)
- Experience with modern advice technology e.g. Marloo
- Completed or currently studying a financial adviser related qualification e.g. Bachelor or Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning
Personal Attributes
- Technically curious and confident to challenge strategies
- Enthusiastic about new technology and better ways of working
- Takes ownership of advice quality from start to finish
- Calm and organised under deadline pressure
- Collaborative, and comfortable working with advisers, operations and compliance across time zones
Career Path & Development
This role offers exposure to every part of a fast-growing Australian advice business, with specialist cross-border expertise and hands-on experience of advice technology you won't build in a typical practice. For the right candidate, there is scope to progress into paraplanning management, technical, compliance, or a fully licensed Australian financial adviser role over time.
Remuneration
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Performance and progression opportunities
How Success Is Measured
- Quality and compliance of advice, including how often it passes QA review first time
- Turnaround times and meeting deadlines
- Adviser satisfaction and less rework
- Contribution to better use of technology, templates and processes
