Description
Bexar County ESD 4 Fire Rescue is seeking applications for the position of Lieutenant! Internal and External applicants are welcome to apply!
Bexar County ESD 4 Fire Rescue is located in the northwest corner of Bexar County, Boerne, Texas, serving commercial, residential, and wildland-urban interface areas. ESD 4 was founded in 1973 as Leons Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Because of the region's extensive growth, an ESD was established to provide Fire and EMS service to its constituents. ESD 4 has a rich culture that encourages volunteers to learn about the fire service while becoming certified to serve in the capacity of part-time or as a career firefighter. We are now working to open a third fire station in Fair Oaks Ranch! We cover approximately 40 square miles with a population of 40,000. ESD 4 serves the citizens of Bexar County and Fair Oaks Ranch through an Interlocal Agreement. ESD 4 is operated by a progressive-minded, forward-thinking Board of Commissioners that approved a budget for a new training facility, personnel costs to staff Station 420 in Fair Oaks Ranch, and raises for our personnel, while covering 80% of family insurance! The department is a paid all-hazard fire department currently with 69 employees. We are hiring an additional 14 for a new station. Operations personnel work a 48/96 schedule.
