Job Title:
Senior Cost Control
Job Purpose:
Our Client is seeking a Senior Cost Control professional to strengthen capital project governance, reporting, reconciliations and forecasting. The role requires strong capital-project cost control experience, relevant qualifications and the ability to support accurate management decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets, project plans and financial controls;
- Strengthen the cost control framework through clear governance, updated policies and consistent application of approved controls;
- Develop and maintain cost procedures, reporting systems, workflows, cost codes, control accounts, work breakdown structures and integrated code of accounts to support project reporting;
- Manage budgets, actual costs, commitments, accruals, cash flow, contingency use and budget movements within approved project parameters;
- Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly and annual capital cost reports and forecasts within agreed timeframes;
- Oversee monthly Costrac-to-SAP, finance and capital accounting reconciliations to ensure complete, accurate and reliable project cost information across systems;
- Reconcile procurement commitments, purchase orders, contract values and approved variations against project cost reports.
- Define Costrac business requirements for configuration, master data, system controls and standard templates; align these with approved cost-control and workflow processes; coordinate the appointed service provider; validate proposed solutions, testing and delivered outcomes; resolve system or data discrepancies; and ensure implemented changes meet Finance, governance and reporting requirements;
- Quality assure outputs prepared by project administrators and cost controllers, including estimates, budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, cost reports, cash-flow forecasts, master data and supporting schedules, ensuring submissions are complete, accurate, consistent, traceable and issued on time.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure cost information is accurate, consistent, aligned and available for informed decision-making.
Qualifications & experience:
- Grade 12 / Matric, plus a relevant bachelor’s degree in Cost and Management Accounting, Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- A relevant certification in project controls, cost engineering, management accounting or project management, such as AACE, CIMA, ACCA, PMP or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in capital-project cost control within a multi-project or portfolio environment, including at least three years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in project setup, budgeting, forecasting and capital accounting reconciliation.
