Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and established dietary guidelines.
- Ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, and properly portioned.
- Follow prescribed diets, texture modifications, and other resident-specific dietary requirements.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensure the kitchen, cooking equipment, and food preparation areas remain clean and organized.
- Monitor food supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Coordinate with dietary staff to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule.
- Follow infection control procedures and applicable health department regulations.
- Minimize food waste while maintaining meal quality and portion consistency.
- Support the dietary team in providing excellent service to residents.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, healthcare setting, or institutional kitchen is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special dietary instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Food handler certification or other required credentials, as applicable.
- Compassionate and resident-focused attitude.
