Optometrist Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, caring Optometrist to join our growing team of eye care professionals. You will examine each patient’s eyes thoroughly, utilizing a series of tests to check their vision and detect eye diseases or other eye disorders. If the patient needs vision correction, you determine their current prescription for glasses or contacts. We expect all of our doctors to provide excellent patient care and to ensure the patients understand all the procedures performed during their exam.Optometrist Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform standard eye exams for patientsCheck for evidence of disease, injury, or other problems impacting visionProvide prescriptions for corrective lenses as neededListen to and address patient's questions and concernsPrescribe medications when neededUtilize all necessary equipment properly, ensuring it is in good working orderRecord all tests, prescriptions, and treatments in the patient’s chartOptometrist Requirements and QualificationsDoctor of Optometry (D.O.) required from an accredited institutionCurrent state optometry license in good standingMinimum of two years experience as a practicing optometristSolid working knowledge of all ophthalmic equipment needed to conduct examinationsExperience prescribing and fitting corrective lensesHistory of excellent patient careExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
