Project Accountant

Description

 · Communicate effectively with Project Managers and Subconsultants regarding contract documents, change orders, project modifications, approvals, and billing-related services

· Open new projects, proposals, and clients in the enterprise software system

· Review contracts for financial terms and ensure accurate representation in project setup documentation; notify Project Managers of any discrepancies

· Process draft invoices and related documentation through the electronic billing system

· Prepare and finalize invoices for billable projects, including all required backup documentation

· Upload final invoices to client billing portals as needed

· Review consultant invoices and coordinate approvals with Project Managers

· Maintain organized electronic filing and archiving of project-specific documents including contracts, proposals, budget changes, and project setup forms

· Ensure timely communication to resolve open items and maintain project clarity

· Obtain appropriate approvals in accordance with company policies

· Research and reconcile project-related financial issues; identify and resolve variances

· Provide ongoing support to Project Managers and coordinate with local offices

· Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

· 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in AEC or professional services

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek/Vantagepoint, BST, EleVia or similar ERP systems)

· Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
