Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Analysis & Discovery

- Elicit and document data migration business rules, field mappings, and transformation logic in collaboration with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain migration specification artefacts including Data Mapping Documents, Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) specifications, and Data Cleansing Rules.
- Analyse insurance policy, claims, customer, and financial data structures across legacy and target PAS platforms.
- Perform gap analysis between source and target systems, identifying data reconciliation and enrichment requirements.
- Define and document data migration acceptance criteria and sign-off processes in collaboration with business owners.
Technical Migration Execution
- Design, develop, and execute data migration scripts using SQL (T-SQL / PL-SQL) to extract, transform, and load data across relational database environments.
- Build and manage data migration pipelines using specialist ETL/data migration tooling such as Astera Centerprise, including the design of dataflows, transformations, and job orchestration.
- Implement and manage API-based data ingestion processes, working with REST/SOAP APIs to extract or load data from/to PAS platforms and third-party systems.
- Perform iterative migration runs (mock migrations) and resolve defects arising from migration validation and reconciliation checks.
- Develop and execute reconciliation and audit queries to validate migration completeness and accuracy against agreed tolerances.
- Support cutover planning and execute migration activities during live migration events, including out-of-hours delivery where required.
Quality & Governance
- Ensure data migrations adhere to data governance, data quality, and compliance standards, including GDPR requirements for personal data handling.
- Maintain detailed migration logs, issue trackers, and progress reporting for project stakeholders.
- Contribute to post-migration validation activities, supporting business users with data sign-off.
- Identify and escalate data quality risks proactively, proposing pragmatic remediation solutions.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a data migration analyst or data analyst role, ideally within the insurance or life & pensions sector.
- Strong working knowledge of insurance Policy Administration Systems (PAS), including policy lifecycle data structures (quotes, policies, endorsements, renewals, claims).
- Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation, profiling, and reconciliation across relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with ETL / data migration tooling — experience with Astera Centerprise is highly desirable; equivalent tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS) considered.
- Experience designing and consuming REST or SOAP APIs for data ingestion or extraction purposes.
- Demonstrable ability to produce high-quality data mapping and migration specification documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience working on PAS migration or transformation programmes targeting modern cloud-based platforms; direct experience with DXC Assure Commercial & Specialty or DXC Assure Broking is highly advantageous, as is prior exposure to other leading platforms such as Guidewire, Majesco, SSP, or Acturis.
- London Market and/or Global Specialty insurance experience is highly desirable, including familiarity with Lloyd's and Company market operating models, placing processes, and the associated data structures (risk, premium, claims, bordereaux, bureau submissions).
- Knowledge of PAS platforms commonly used across the London and Specialty market, such as Whitespace, PPL, DCOM, IMR, Xuber (Xchanging), or similar.
- Familiarity with insurance data models spanning the full placing chain — including Carriers, MGAs, and Brokers — and an understanding of how data structures, ownership, and obligations differ across each participant.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS) and cloud-based migration patterns.
- Understanding of Agile and/or waterfall project delivery methodologies.
- Experience with data quality tools or profiling frameworks.
Personal Attributes
- Able to work independently and take ownership of migration workstreams with minimal supervision.
- Strong communicator — able to translate complex technical data concepts for non-technical business stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced project environments with competing priorities and firm deadlines.
- Collaborative team player who builds effective relationships across business and technical teams.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
