ConvAI operates at the forefront of voice AI and conversational customer experience. As a specialist technical unit within Probe CX, we engineer modern solutions—including our flagship platform, Oration, and an advanced LLM Insights analytics engine. Our mission is to replace rigid, legacy call menus with natural, AI-driven voice experiences that reduce operational overhead and elevate user satisfaction.
The Role
We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer with 5+ years of experience to architect and scale our AI-powered product suite. This position is primarily backend-focused, leaning heavily on Node.js and TypeScript, while demanding hands-on capability with modern LLMs and Generative AI. You will build resilient backend services, design APIs, and engineer intelligent conversational workflows within a supportive culture that values technical ownership, innovation, and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Architecture: Build, scale, and maintain backend services and REST APIs utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.
- AI Integration: Embed modern LLMs and Generative AI models into production-ready enterprise applications.
- Conversational Workflows: Develop robust chatbots, voice AI assistants, and intelligent conversational pathways.
- Systems Engineering: Navigate databases, third-party APIs, distributed systems, and modern cloud infrastructure.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with frontend teams to support React-based interfaces and ensure seamless end-to-end feature delivery.
- Technical Leadership: Drive system architecture, conduct code reviews, optimize technical design, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- A proven track record of designing scalable backend systems and robust REST APIs.
- Direct, hands-on experience building with LLMs, Generative AI, or Conversational AI.
- Practical experience integrating modern AI/LLM APIs into commercial applications.
- Working knowledge of React to effectively collaborate with frontend counterparts.
- Strong command of database management, API design, version control (Git), and modern engineering practices.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with specific frontier models (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini).
- Experience with advanced AI architectures, including RAG pipelines, vector databases, and multi-agent workflows.
- Expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Deep knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures.
