Description
O’Hagan Meyer is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Billing Appeals Specialist to manage the firm’s insurance carrier invoice appeal process. This position is responsible for reviewing invoice reductions and denials, preparing and submitting appeals, monitoring deadlines, and tracking recovery efforts.
The ideal candidate has experience with law firm billing, insurance carrier billing guidelines, and electronic billing systems. This is a hybrid position requiring the employee to work in the office five days per week during the first 90 days of employment. Following the initial 90-day period, the employee may transition to a hybrid schedule requiring at least three days in the office per week, subject to manager approval.

· Prepare clear, persuasive appeal narratives and supporting documentation for attorney review and approval.
· Submit appeals through electronic billing platforms and carrier-specific portals within established deadlines.
· Monitor appeal deadlines and provide timely reminders and status updates to attorneys and billing staff.
· Maintain accurate appeal logs and track outstanding appeals, outcomes, and recovered amounts.
· Work with attorneys and billing staff to obtain supporting documentation, resolve billing issues, and strengthen appeals.
· Collaborate with billing and collections teams to identify trends in carrier reductions and recommend process improvements.
· Apply outside counsel billing guidelines, carrier-specific requirements, and applicable appeal procedures.
· Prepare reports and maintain spreadsheets to monitor appeal activity, recovery rates, and outstanding items.
· Respond to internal inquiries regarding appeal status, procedures, and billing reductions.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
