ABOUT STX
STX Group is a global leader in environmental markets and energy-transition solutions, helping businesses manage commodity risk and accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon energy system. Our power business is expanding rapidly across European markets. By combining market access, trading expertise and structured solutions, we enable renewable generators, storage owners and energy consumers to manage increasingly complex power-market risks.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Structured Power Trader to join our growing European power trading team at STX Group. You will work closely with the Origination and Sales teams, pricing, executing and hedging structured power transactions across European markets. You will manage the corresponding trading book, covering exposures from renewable generation and flexibility structures. Alongside managing the book, you will help further develop our pricing, risk and trading capabilities for structured power products. This is an opportunity to take ownership of pricing, trading and risk-taking decisions within a growing power business.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Price and execute structured power transactions, including revenue hedges, swaps and other products across European power markets, in collaboration with Origination and Sales.
- Manage and hedge the resulting trading book, including shape, volume, basis and optionality risks, while optimising risk-adjusted returns.
- Monitor trading positions, market developments and P&L, and actively manage exposures through appropriate trading decisions.
- Help develop and improve the desk's pricing, risk and portfolio-management capabilities.
- Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Legal and Operations to assess and execute transactions and ensure risks are appropriately captured and managed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- At least 3 years of power trading experience, with a track record of managing a long-term or structured energy trading book within an energy trading company, utility or financial institution.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to understand, price and manage complex market exposures.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong programming skills, with experience writing maintainable front-office code, using version control (Git) and building reliable data pipelines.
- Strong commercial acumen and a focus-on-the-trade mentality.
- Ability to work effectively with Origination, Sales, Quantitative Analytics and other stakeholders in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Fluency in English; additional languages, particularly Eastern European languages, are an advantage.
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive compensation with a performance-based bonus.
- The opportunity to work on sophisticated structured power transactions across European markets.
- Direct exposure to trading decisions and the commercial drivers of the energy transition.
- An entrepreneurial environment where you can contribute to the development of new products and trading capabilities.
- Opportunities for professional development within an international and growing business.
- A collaborative team culture with a strong focus on ownership, innovation and results.
DIVERSITY STATEMENT
We encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to enhance our team and contribute to a more inclusive work environment. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are more than just concepts. They are part of our everyday work culture, ensuring employees feel welcomed and build meaningful connections.
At STX, we ask applicants to think holistically about roles. If the roles sounds exciting and a great fit for you, but some of the criteria or required experience doesn’t 100% line up, we still encourage you to apply!
