Background

JAPAN AI is experiencing rapid growth and is currently at a critical turning point for business expansion. Since our launch over a year ago, we have grown significantly, serving a vast number of corporate clients.

At this stage of growth, we are looking for a talented Senior Product Manager who can clearly define product direction, maximize customer value, and effectively lead our development teams. We welcome candidates who possess a deep understanding of AI technology and customer needs, and who can formulate and execute product strategies that directly drive business results.

Expected Role

In this position, you will demonstrate leadership by effectively managing our rapidly growing AI products and leading projects to success. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

1. Product Strategy Formulation and Execution

• Develop mid-to-long-term product roadmaps based on the company's vision and business strategy.
• Formulate differentiation strategies through market research and competitor analysis.
• Set product priorities through data-driven decision-making.

2. Leading Product Development

• Define requirements and specifications in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Drive product improvements based on user interviews and data analysis.
• Bridge the gap between the latest AI technologies and their practical application.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to identify customer needs.
• Provide reports and strategic proposals to executive management.
• Manage and motivate multi-national, multi-disciplinary teams.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Product Strategy: Define product direction, create roadmaps, and set/track KPIs to drive data-based decisions.
• Product Development: Lead the development lifecycle from requirement definition to release planning. Explore applications of the latest AI trends (LLMs, etc.) into our products.
• Stakeholder Management: Collect feedback through direct communication with customers and coordinate strategies with management and other departments.
• Global Communication: Build effective communication channels within a multi-national team environment.

Team Structure

The development organization consists of approximately 65 members, including engineers and PMs. The PM team is divided into the following focus areas:

• AI SaaS PdM: Focusing on feature enhancement and expanding the customer base for products that have achieved PMF.
• AI AGENT PMF: Strategic planning and execution to achieve PMF for a suite of innovative AI agents.
• PjM: Developing and delivering SaaS and Agent products as tailored solutions for clients.

 

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

• Product Management Experience: 4+ years of experience in software or system development.
• Strategy to Execution: Proven track record of leading product strategy from ideation to market launch.
• Data-Driven: Experience in market/competitor analysis and building data-driven decision processes.
• Customer Centricity: Experience conducting user interviews to translate business workflows and pain points into technical requirements and system specifications.
• Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Language Skills:
  • Japanese: Fluent (Ability to conduct deep discussions with customers and internal teams without friction).
  • English: Business level.

Preferred Qualifications

• 0 to 1 Phase Experience: Experience launching a new product and putting it on a growth trajectory in high-uncertainty environments.
• Technical Background: 3+ years of software development experience; ability to support technical decision-making and communicate smoothly with engineers.
• AI/SaaS Expertise: Knowledge of NLP (GPT, Claude, BERT), Generative AI, or Transformer models. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Growth Phase Experience: Experience scaling a product post-PMF and implementing user acquisition/retention initiatives.
• Leadership: Proactive mindset with a history of driving cross-functional projects to resolution.

• AI Tool Support: Full company coverage for AI tools including JAPAN AI SaaS, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.
• Development Tools: Coverage for paid dev tools (up to 30,000 JPY/year).
• Book Allowance: Purchase of technical books for learning (up to 30,000 JPY per half-year).
• Language/Certification Support: Subsidies for Japanese/English learning programs and professional certifications.
• Refreshment Allowance: Up to 5,000 JPY/month for gyms, yoga, massages, or entertainment (movies, theme parks, etc.).

Work Style

• Hybrid: 3 days in-office (Shinjuku), 2 days remote per week.
