Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking dedicated research professionals to support laboratory operations and research projects. Positions are available at multiple levels, with the working title determined by the selected candidate’s education and directly related experience.

Research personnel will conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, maintain laboratory equipment, and assist with reporting research findings. Higher-level positions may lead research activities and train students or other research personnel.


Qualifications:

Position titles are assigned based on education and experience. Minimum education and work requirements are:

  • Research Technician, High School or GED

  • Research Technologist, Baccalaureate Degree

  • Research Assistant I, Baccalaureate Degree, one year directly related work experience

  • Research Assistant II, Baccalaureate Degree, two years directly related work experience

  • Research Assistant III, Baccalaureate Degree, three years directly related work experience

  • Research Associate I, Baccalaureate Degree, four years directly related work experience

  • Research Associate II, Baccalaureate Degree, five years directly related work experience

  • Research Associate III, Baccalaureate Degree, six years directly related work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Effective organizational and presentation skills.

  • Ability to follow research protocols and maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for higher-level positions.

This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025. Prior to issuance of an offer of employment, the University is required to request and obtain additional information about an applicant’s background and, if required, conduct an additional review of that background information

  • Conduct research and assist with laboratory projects under the direction of researchers or scientists.

  • Perform laboratory tests and experiments.

  • Collect, record, organize, and analyze research data.

  • Prepare research materials and organize samples.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.

  • Follow established research protocols and safety requirements.

  • Assist with reports, presentations, and research findings.

  • Support daily laboratory operations.

  • Lead assigned research activities and train research personnel, as appropriate for higher-level positions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
