We are seeking a Research Scientist II with strong molecular biology, cellular neuroscience, tissue engineering, or related life sciences expertise and an AI-first mindset to support translational research at the intersection of biology, neural systems, and implantable medical devices.

This role will contribute to the discovery and development of biological, digital, and multimodal biomarkers that may inform future adaptive (closed-loop) neuromodulation therapies. The successful candidate will help generate high-quality biological datasets, investigate mechanisms of neural modulation, and support the integration of molecular, electrophysiological, imaging, and clinical data to enable more personalized, data-driven treatment approaches.

The individual will collaborate with internal R&D teams and external academic, clinical, and industry partners globally to accelerate scientific innovation and translational research initiatives.

What You’ll Work On

Translational Neuroscience & Biological Research

  • Support preclinical and translational neuroscience research programs focused on neuromodulation mechanisms, therapeutic target discovery, and biomarker identification.
  • Design, execute, and optimize molecular and cellular biology experiments.
  • Conduct cellular, tissue-level, and in-vitro studies to investigate biological responses to neural stimulation.
  • Analyze gene, protein, and cellular pathway changes associated with neural activity, disease states, and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Support development of novel in-vitro screening platforms and biologically relevant research models.
  • Assist in translating biological discoveries into clinically relevant neuromodulation applications.

Biomarker Discovery & Adaptive Neurotechnology

  • Contribute to discovery and validation of molecular, physiological, and digital biomarkers associated with therapeutic response.
  • Support development of biological inputs that may inform future adaptive (closed-loop) neuromodulation systems.
  • Assist in correlating molecular findings with electrophysiological, imaging, device-generated, and clinical datasets.
  • Participate in research efforts exploring mechanisms underlying personalized neuromodulation therapies.

AI, Data Science & Multimodal Research

  • Apply an AI-first approach to experimental design, data generation, annotation, structuring, and interpretation.
  • Contribute to development of AI-ready multimodal datasets integrating biological, electrophysiological, imaging, and clinical data.
  • Partner with computational scientists, data scientists, and engineers to support machine learning and advanced analytics initiatives.
  • Maintain high-quality, well-characterized datasets suitable for downstream AI and predictive modeling applications.
  • Support generation of data standards, metadata frameworks, and research workflows that enhance reproducibility and future analytics capabilities.

Collaboration & Scientific Communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Data Science, and Engineering organizations.
  • Engage with academic institutions, clinical investigators, and external research collaborators globally.
  • Prepare technical reports, scientific presentations, publications, and supporting documentation.
  • Present findings to internal stakeholders and external scientific audiences as appropriate.
  • Stay current on advances in neuroscience, AI-enabled biology, bioelectronic medicine, precision medicine, and adaptive neurotechnology.

Required Qualifications
