Role Summary

The Portfolio Specialist is part of the Investment Division and is a key member of the investment team. The position is a critical link between portfolio management, distribution, clients, and broader business partners. It requires deep investment expertise, strong commercial judgement, and close collaboration with portfolio managers to help position, represent, and develop our capabilities.

In partnership with the PMs, the Portfolio Specialist acts as the strategic lead for the investment messaging across assigned strategies. The role is both investment-led and client facing, where the Portfolio Specialist coordinates the success of potential opportunities by working closely with a team of portfolio analysts, institutional writers, RfP editors and other associates, as well as playing a key role with the asset retention of existing clients.

The role requires the ability to drive high-impact engagements with clients and prospects to better understand their specific needs and propose potential solutions around existing capabilities, and to translate insights into clear, compelling messages for clients, prospects, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

For this position, the Portfolio Specialist will lead the promotion of a range of US Growth-oriented Equity strategies as well as Global Tech equity strategies in EMEA. It will require at the onset a commercial mindset and a willingness to educate our clients on our investment approach, to service a large book of investors, as well as being able to present our capabilities both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the US Growth Equity and the Global Tech Equity teams, contributing to portfolio, market, performance, client, and product discussions.

  • Alongside the portfolio managers, and portfolio specialists in other regions, own the strategy’s commercial and investment narrative, ensuring clear, consistent and compelling messaging for diverse audiences.

  • Build deep partnerships with portfolio managers to accurately represent their process, positioning, and investment views.

  • Act as an Equity expert, articulating investment philosophy, process, position, performance, risk profile, competitive positioning, and investment relevance for clients.

  • Drive commercial growth through client engagement, prospecting, consultant support, marketing, and distribution partnership. Shape solutions, content, and positioning that connect investment insights to evolving client needs.

  • Lead effort with distribution on marketing and PR activities, as well as clients’ events, related to US and Global Tech equities.

  • Travel regularly to Baltimore and EMEA to support investment team and distribution efforts.

What this role offers

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of investment management, client engagement, and business development. You will work side by side with portfolio managers, develop deep expertise in a growing equity capability, influence commercial outcomes, and drive business growth, thereby contributing directly to the evolution and success of a strategic franchise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of buy-side experience in a similar role, portfolio management, investment research, investment consulting, or institutional client service.

  • Prior experience with fundamental US Equity and Global Tech equity strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly to a wide range of audiences.

  • Proven ability to navigate global investment organizations and collaborate effectively with portfolio managers, investment professionals, product, marketing, sales, and client service teams.

  • High level of energy and leadership, with a track record of supporting commercialization efforts and driving initiatives to completion in a team-oriented environment.

  • Comfortable using AI-enabled tools and workflows for analysis, data aggregation, and content generation, while maintaining responsibility for validation, interpretation, and quality control.

  • Language required: English (essential) and other European languages (optional).
