As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will assess patient needs, skills and interests and develop Activity Therapy treatment goals. You will conduct, design, implement and adjust individualized and group programs to increase functional levels.
You will assess daily patient functioning, leisure and recreational needs and complete weekly treatment notes and update treatment plans. You will provide regular reports on patient progress, change in goals and any adjustments in behavior.

REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S., B.Ed.)
- Skills: Must have interpersonal and verbal/ written communication skills necessary to work productively with patients, families, physicians, and a variety of personnel. Must possess critical thinking skills in order to collaborate in the provision and documentation of patient interactions and under stressful situations. Must be able to operate machinery. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
- Years of Experience: Three to five years’ experience in a comprehensive inpatient Psychiatric Unit (or comparable work experience).
- Certification: Must have CPR-BLS
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Skills: Individual, family and group therapy training and experience preferred.
- Certification: C.T.R.S. or "Expressive therapist" meaning an individual who provides treatment intervention through the use of such activities as art, music, dance; who is certified or registered by the national expressive therapist association, certification board for music therapists, American arts therapy association, 5122-14-01 3 American dance therapy association, or is licensed, certified or registered by another recognized state or national body to practice expressive therapy.
