Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.

About your team:

At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.

We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.

Are you passionate about data, analysis and markets?

As a Student Intraday Power Trader, you will join our Intraday Trading team in Copenhagen and gain hands-on experience in European power markets.

Working closely with experienced traders, you will support and participate in live trading activities, market analysis, weather forecasting, and operational processes while developing your commercial and analytical skills.

The Student Intraday Power Trader role is an entry‑level position designed to build practical trading skills in a real market setting. Based on a busy trading floor, the role focuses on supporting intraday trading activities while gradually taking on more responsibility as experience grows.

Day‑to‑day work combines market analysis, trade execution, and collaboration, providing insight into how short‑term power markets function and how trading decisions are made.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and gradually participate in intraday power trading across European markets.
  • Analyze market fundamentals, price movements, renewable generation, and cross-border flows.
  • Monitor weather forecasts and assess their impact on power prices.
  • Produce market analysis and trading insights for the desk.
  • Assist with operational tasks, reporting, trade validation, and process improvements.
  • Help develop analytical tools and automation solutions to support trading activities.

About You

This role is suited to someone at an early stage of their career who is interested in markets and motivated to learn through practical experience. You enjoy working structured with data, staying focused in a busy environment, and developing skills over time through support and feedback from others.

The role would suit someone who has:

  • An interest in trading, energy or financial markets, and commercial problem‑solving.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related quantitative field.
  • Ideally on your Master or at a later stage on Bachelor.
  • The ability to stay calm, organised, and level-headed in pressured situations.
  • Curiosity about market behaviour and how prices respond to new information.
  • A collaborative approach, with openness to feedback and learning from others.
  • An interest in technology, automation, or using data to improve decision‑making.
  • Ability to work in Python or similar is an advantage
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as part of a rotating schedule.

Previous trading experience is not required. The focus is on motivation, learning mindset, and interest in markets. The role is based in Copenhagen.

Applicant motivation is a decisive selection criterion, so please make sure to add your cover letter/motivation together with your CV when applying. Even if you do not have the experience and competencies listed above, you might still be the perfect candidate for the job.

In your cover letter please tell us:

1) Why are you enthusiastic about the role?

2) What is the most interesting thing, according to you, about Centrica Energy and/or the energy industry?

3) Which career goal(s) do you hope this role could help you achieve?
