Medical Records Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing medical records and communications with referral sources and physicians

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process all daily clinical record functions
• Work closely with billing and accounting personnel to follow up on necessary documents
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal and agency Medical Record requirements
• Follow up with Health Care Providers when necessary documents aren't returned timely
• Escalate issues to the Account Manager for follow up
• Maintain a personal, business-like relationship throughout the community
• Advise the Manager/Administrator on current events, concerns and agency’s operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of one year of administrative experience in a professional office environment
• Typing ability of at least 45 wpm and word processing experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of the functional organizational make-up of the home Health Agency
• Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and systems
• Ability to plan, coordinate, direct and control the health services of the agency with an understanding of statistical recording and reporting
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports, and correspondence
• Demonstrate a strong public relation focus and customer first orientation
• Ability to deal tactfully with the public and demonstrate a team mentality
