As semiconductor systems become increasingly complex, quality engineering is essential to ensure product stability, performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
As a Senior Software Engineer – Quality Assurance Automation, you will work closely with software developers, product teams, and global engineering organizations to validate cutting-edge equipment control software. You will drive quality initiatives through test automation, customer issue analysis, defect management, and the adoption of modern AI-assisted testing practices. This role provides an opportunity to influence product quality, improve testing efficiency, and contribute directly to solutions used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing environments.
## What you’ll do
Quality Engineering & Test Automation
- Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, regression, system, GUI, and performance test cases.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites to improve release quality, test coverage, and execution efficiency.
- Create test plans, test data, validation scenarios, and automation assets for new features and software releases.
- Support CI/CD-driven testing and automated validation activities.
- Leverage Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalent tools to accelerate test case creation, automation scripting, and quality engineering workflows.
Product Validation & Customer Support
- Qualify software releases, patches, and enhancements before customer deployment.
- Investigate, reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot customer-reported software issues.
- Perform log analysis, defect reporting, debugging, and root-cause identification.
- Partner with software engineering teams to validate fixes and ensure timely issue resolution.
AI-Assisted Quality Engineering
- Apply Generative AI tools in daily QA activities including test case design, automation development, defect analysis, and quality reporting.
- Develop reusable AI prompts, templates, and accelerators that improve QA productivity.
- Evaluate AI-driven testing approaches and contribute to AI adoption within quality engineering processes.
- Support development of lightweight AI-powered quality utilities and workflow automation solutions.
- Ability to demonstrate measurable productivity improvements achieved through AI-assisted testing approaches.
Technical Ownership & Collaboration
- Own testing and automation delivery for medium-sized features and releases.
- Participate in test strategy discussions and recommend appropriate validation approaches based on product requirements.
- Collaborate with software developers, quality engineers, systems teams, and customer support organizations globally.
- Track execution progress and provide accurate quality status updates to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Drive quality improvements through test automation and process optimization.
- Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency, coverage, and release confidence.
- Contribute to improving software reliability, maintainability, and overall customer experience.
- Stay current with advancements in AI-assisted testing, automation frameworks, and modern quality engineering practices
## Who we’re looking for
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, Software Testing, or Software Validation.
- Good understanding of Functional, Integration, Regression, System, GUI, and Performance Testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test solutions for desktop, enterprise, control software, or hardware-integrated applications.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or similar programming/scripting languages.
- Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Ability to independently own testing activities with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work on desktop-based applications, equipment control software, and hardware-integrated software solutions.
## Preferred qualifications
- Experience with desktop-based applications, equipment control software, or hardware-integrated software systems.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and modern testing tools.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated build validation.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Experience building AI-assisted QA workflows, utilities, or testing accelerators.
- Exposure to semiconductor equipment software, industrial automation, embedded systems, or manufacturing software environments.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted coding and modern software development practices.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
