Description
Overview
ITS requires Technical Editor support to work in the ITS Publications Office and Procurement Analyst support to work in the ITS Budget Office. The scope of work for the Technical Editor is generally editing papers prior to publication, preparing system diagrams, project plans, and manuals in support of technical projects/project leaders, and aiding the ITS Editorial Review Board (ERB).
Background
The scope of work for the Procurement Analyst is typically assisting programs with the development of procurement documents, providing information regarding different sources of supply, assisting with market research, and supporting ITS CORs.
Responsibilities
Editing Technical Papers
- Copy edit and prepare technical papers for internal and/or external publication (e.g. IEEE journal articles) in collaboration with the respective author(s).
- Edit Quality – All edited papers shall conform to the applicable style guide(s) and be free from grammatical and formatting errors.
- Preparation Timeliness – All edited papers shall be ready for return to the requester within five (5) days of receipt.
Edit ITS Website(s)
- Provide editing support for ITS public websites as directed. This includes drafting content based on documents provided by technical staff for dissemination to a non-technical audience.
- Edit Quality – All website edits shall be free from grammatical, formatting, and content errors.
- Edit Timeliness – Website update proposals shall be complete within three (3) business days of tasking.
Maintain Technical Report Archives
- Assist the ITS publications officer in maintaining the ITS technical report archives. This includes entering in new publication records and proofreading, normalizing, and maintaining existing records.
- Record Quality – All new and edited records shall be free from errors.
Presentation Support
- Assist ITS authors in editing presentations, including graphics support.
- Customer Service – provide professional customer support to ITS authors with no more than one (1) complaint per quarter.
- Support Timeliness – provide initial response to presentation support requests within one (1) business day of the request. In collaboration with the author and the publications officer, set a timeline for producing the requested presentation or graphics and meet that timeline with no more than one (1) exception per quarter.
Templates and Application Support
- Assist the ITS publications officer in creating new templates in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, and assist ITS authors with editorial, formatting, and other application support with PowerPoint and Word.
- Provide professional customer support to ITS authors with no more than one (1) complaint per quarter.
- Provide initial response to template/application support requests within one (1) business day of the request. In collaboration with the author and the publications officer, set a timeline for producing the requested presentation or graphics and meet that timeline with no more than one (1) exception per quarter.
Editing Policies and Procedures
- Provide editorial support to ITS leadership in preparing, editing, and maintaining policy and procedure documents. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating with points of contact on procedure updates and updating documents with final policy changes.
- All edited papers shall be free from grammatical and formatting errors.
- All edited documents shall be ready for review by the requestor within five (5) days of receipt.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 Years of Experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with highly technical subject matter experts.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (See Appendix A)
- Skills in Adobe Creative Suite (See Appendix A):
- Advanced skills with Acrobat
- Intermediate skills with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Knowledge of HTML
- Knowledge of Markdown and use of GitHub.
- Knowledge of LaTeX typesetting
- Experience in a highly technical research and development environment
- Experience with a formal procedure system (e.g. ISO, Six Sigma, etc.)

Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $64,600 – $91,200 annually. Compensation will be discussed in greater detail with candidates who advance in the interview process, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of qualifications and alignment with role requirements.
Compensation Disclaimer:The salary range provided for this position represents a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined at the Company’s discretion based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location, and contract requirements. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
