ROLE SUMMARY

The Medical Director provides scientific and medical expertise in Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), contributing to the development and execution of U.S. medical strategies and tactics for tafamidis. He/she is an integral member of the U.S. Medical Affairs organization and the cross-functional U.S. tafamidis team(s). He/she supports key internal and external medical initiatives, including scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and the development of scientific and educational content, working closely with Field Medical, Global Medical Affairs, and cross-functional colleagues to execute upon the U.S. Medical Affairs plan.

This position is a ~5-month secondment, running through December 2026.
 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the development and execution of U.S. medical strategies and tactics in support of tafamidis.
  • Supports U.S. medical congress activities in alignment with U.S. Medical Affairs plans.
  • Collaborates closely with Field Medical Directors (FMD) with shared responsibilities for National KOLs to ensure maximal scientific support, including joint meetings with the Medical Director and FMD in attendance, when logistically possible.
  • Mentors Field Medical Directors (FMD) with shared responsibilities for National KOLs and assists with establishing relationships between KOLs and FMD.
  • Serves as a reliable scientific resource regarding disease state, clinical data, product labeling, and competitive landscape for ATTR-CM.
  • Provides scientific input into the development of medical and educational content, ensuring accuracy, clinical relevance, and alignment with medical strategy.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional colleagues from Commercial, Field Medical, HEOR, Digital, U.S. Medical Information, and relevant internal colleagues to deliver upon U.S. medical plan(s).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral degree in clinical/pharmacy specialty (Ph.D., Pharm.D) and 5+ years’ experience required; Master’s degree with 7+ years required; Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience required.
  • National ATTR-CM KOL engagement experience required.
  • U.S. tafamidis / rare cardiac medical experience required; commercial experience valued.
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrix teams.
  • Proven strategic thinking, with the resourcefulness, flexibility, and interpersonal skills to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position requires up to 50% national travel as needed to develop internal and external relationships, attend internal and external meetings, and congresses.
