Description

Early Career Group (ECG) Manager for WB Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA)

Your work environment

The Capital Markets & Advisory (CMA) strategy is focused on upgrading the commercial engine of Wholesale Banking on all capital markets and advisory products (M&A, D&CA, Debt and Equity Capital Markets solutions, Acquisition Financing, Loan Distribution Group) that we offer to our Wholesale Banking clients. A key element in that strategy is to attract the high potentials from the market, to develop and retain those talents across all products to become well-rounded CMA bankers. In order to achieve this, a structured career path including learning & development curriculum – a global Early Careers Group (ECG) programme – has been implemented for our junior staff (~ 87 FTE known today) in the Netherlands. This global talent programme has now been rolled-out in the US, UK, GE, BE and APAC, with the intend to further scale and grow across all Wholesale Banking countries across the global with CMA products present.

The ECG programme seeks to cultivate well-rounded CMA bankers, enhance employee engagement, and improve succession planning, aligning with ING's ambition to become The Best Wholesale Bank in Europe, empowered by a global network and remaining a top employer in the industry.

The ECG programme offers a cohesive and efficient support system for our best graduate employees, fostering their development. All Analysts and Associates within CMA will fall within scope of the ECG programme.

Your role

All current and future ECG junior employees will be hired within the ECG programme and structure. This means that all Analysts and Associates will be hired with an intended CMA product home base (e.g. M&A), hierarchically reporting into and coached by the ECG Leader.

Your role as the dedicated ECG manager is to support the ECG Leader with the further development, enhancement and scaling of the ECG-programme. As ECG Manager you will work closely with the ECG Leader NL, ECG managers in the other ECG countries, the Head of CMA NL and respective MT members, (Global) CMA business management, HR Business Partners, and other HR colleagues and key stakeholders like recruitment.

We are looking for an ambitious, result-driven, hands-on, pragmatic and people-driven team player to strengthen our team.

As the ECG Manager:

  • You will support the further development of the design and scaling of the (global) consistent ECG programme and events, aligned with the CMA agenda and WB (CMA) priorities
  • You will maintain overall oversight and structure of the ECG programme, including rotations and governance, and alignment with other countries
  • You will streamline the ECG L&D curriculum and partner with the WB Business Academy to enable scalability and quality
  • You will act as a strong stakeholder manager across CMA, HR, business and learning functions
  • You will serve as the single point of contact for ECG employees in the Netherlands, supporting the ECG Leader and ensuring clarity and consistency
  • You will support the ECG Leader by coordinating inputs, managing administration, and ensuring oversight of key topics and forward‑looking agenda items
  • You will streamline administrative and HR procedures, ensuring compliance with training, diversity, and people strategies
  • You will coordinate and support hiring, development programmes, rotations and performance cycles for the ECG population
  • You will support the ECG Leader to help improve HR processes impacting ECG (e.g. recruitment, performance management, talent development, internships)
  • You will help drive targeted actions to improve engagement and OHI scores among our early career employees
  • You will support the development and alignment of a clear communication and brand strategy for ECG in NL, internally and externally, aligned with CMA and WBNL positioning, with the potential to further scale globally
  • You will set up structured feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement of the programme
  • You will support the ECG leader by taking on an active mentoring role, supporting junior talent development and career progression
  • You will leverage your Wholesale Banking knowledge (CMA products as a strong plus) to connect business needs with junior people development

Your key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior CMA business leaders, and other key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business priorities and the ECG agenda
  • Play a critical operational and tactical role in the successful further execution and improvement of the CMA ECG programme in the Netherlands
  • Create and scale high‑impact programmes and events that contribute to the broader CMA agenda, designed with a global scalability mindset
  • Coordinate regular alignment and governance sessions between the ECG Leader, CMA Product Heads in the Netherlands, and, where relevant, ECG Leaders outside the Netherlands, facilitating knowledge sharing, best practices, and problem solving
  • Contribute to the strategy for attracting, retaining, developing and recognising key CMA early‑career talent
  • Support Learning & Development initiatives by streamlining curricula and partnering closely with the WB Business Academy to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability, aligned to the budget.
  • Actively support and improve HR processes impacting the ECG population, including recruitment, performance management, rotations, and talent development
  • Support the ECG Leader in building a strong performance culture, leveraging performance and talent management solutions to drive individual and team outcomes
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive environment that enables early‑career employees to thrive and progress
  • Support the ECG Leader in budget planning and governance, including cost management and FTE requests, and ensure timely approvals from the local CMA Head
