What's the role?

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Strategic Finance group. Our group has a business partner philosophy and structure, where each member is aligned with a key part of Etsy’s business - in this case, the Product and Engineering Strategic Finance team. You will support the success of efforts at Etsy by providing critical analysis and insights to drive business decisions around our company strategy and its financial implications.

The Strategic Finance Analyst will be responsible for analyzing trends, building forecast models, and collaborating with our business partners. As this role will have a focus on supporting the Product and Engineering Org, your day-to-day will include (but not be limited to): forecasting and evaluating operating expenses and topline items in the org, weekly reporting to our CFO and CPTO, and working with stakeholders to build goals and forecasts for future periods. This is a full-time position reporting to the Strategic Finance Director for Product and Engineering. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Mexico City Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. The Strategic Finance team partners closely with leaders across Etsy to help shape company strategy, evaluate investments, and drive sustainable growth. As a trusted thought partner to Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Executive Leadership, the team combines rigorous financial analysis with deep business insight to inform decision-making at every level. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Analyze financial and operational trends, and articulate their business impact
• Work with the FP&A team to build budgets and forecasts related to the Product and Engineering Organization
• Arm business leaders with data needed to make strong business decisions by helping them interpret analyses, measure progress against goals, and build investment cases
• Own key parts of forecast model preparation, maintenance, and quality control
• Collaborate with Strategic Finance colleagues to produce regular reviews for the Executive Team and Board of Directors
• Contribute to special products such as assessing the financial and strategic implications of potential new company investments

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 2+ years of finance experience, including experience in financial planning, business analysis, investment banking, accounting or related, with confirmed understanding of financial modeling and analysis tools
• The ideal candidate has participated in the budgeting and forecasting process and enjoys a continuous planning environment
• Familiarity with and passion for the e-commerce industry, Product and Engineering KPIs
• Thrives when working in a collaborative environment and is eager to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Docs
• Experience with Looker, Workday Financial Management, or Planful is also a strength
